Any college students who are interested in making a difference by volunteering their time are encouraged to participate in OREY’s volunteer trips. OREY organizes volunteer trips during school breaks. Upcoming Volunteer Trips
OREY’s Seventh Annual Alternative Spring Break Trip to New Orleans
OREY provides volunteers with:
-Transportation to and from the airport and volunteer site
-Coordination of housing and meals during volunteer days
-Volunteer placement with a local New Orleans, education-based organization
-Planned extracurricular activities volunteers can sign-up to participate in during the volunteer trip
-24/7 support during volunteer trips
Volunteer responsibilities include:
-Commitment to a week of volunteering at an education-based organization selected by OREY
-Expense of airfare, housing, meals, transportation costs and expenses for extra-curricular activities
-To follow the rules established by OREY leadership
-Completion of all required applications and paperwork prior to arriving to New Orleans
Volunteer trip schedule:
-Volunteers are encouraged to arrive to New Orleans by Sunday in order to settle into the housing accomodations and go through orientation; OREY will provide transportation from the airport to the housing location
-Monday through Thursday volunteers are expected to participate in their assigned volunteer opportunities; there will be an orientation at the local organization Monday morning
-Monday through Thursday after volunteer hours, volunteers are free to explore the city of New Orleans, they have the option to sign-up for OREY organized activities such as Hornets basketball game, jazz clubs, group dinners, etc.
-On Friday, volunteers have the day off from their volunteer duties to explore the city
-Volunteers will depart on Saturday with transportation to the airport organized by OREY
-Volunteers are expected to be prepared for the early morning bus pick-up (time determined by OREY leadership) to get to the volunteer site on-time
-At the beginning of the week, volunteers will be assigned to volunteer duties based on the community-based organization’s needs and the individual volunteer’s interests and strengths
-Volunteers are responsible to follow the rules of the community-based organization during all volunteer hours
-Volunteers will be provided lunch and a lunch break during the volunteer day, in addition to transportation back to the accomodations at the end of the volunteer day

OREY is also looking for volunteers to help maintain its programs by lending a variety of skills and services throughout the year.
Volunteers are needed year-round to provide:
-Special Events Assistance
-Pro Bono Services – Printing, Catering, etc.
