OREY TO BE HONORED AT 8th ANNUAL VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION CELEBRATION

OREY will receive the Sandy Recovery Award on December 3, 2013 at the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty’s (Met Council) 8th Annual Volunteer Recognition Celebration.  The event, which will be held at the Steelcase Showroom in Manhattan, celebrates the service of countless volunteers that help make the Met Council’s programs happen.

OREY will be recognized for our over 200 hours of service in the Rockaways and Coney Island, where over 30 volunteers provided assistance to families devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of OREY’s volunteers, we were able to provide supplies in the weeks after the storm hit, assist with Passover cleaning, pack and distribut
e Passover boxes at a food pantry, gut a community theatre and pass out information on recovery resources to neighborhood businesses.
